Three Big Announcements
About three years ago, I was asked by a friend what I hope to be doing in five years. I said I want the Converge program and team to be fully operational and for me to be teaching and writing more. We have daily progress on Converge, but I have three exciting announcements about the teaching and writing:
First, I’ve been published again through a new book called Making A Difference: How to Extend Your Influence and Transform Your World. My friend Dwight Clough invited me to be one of the ten authors contributing a chapter. (Jerry Jenkins is also one of the co-authors. You may remember he is a co-author of the Left Behind series.) You can order the book now at Amazon. (Kindle $5 and paperback $20USD)
Second, I’ve been invited to be part of YWAM’s 30 Days of Vision Challenge, an online super conference. It’s an honor to be included as one of the 47 YWAM visionary leaders who will be speaking everyday in April. I’ll be speaking on Saturday, April 24, about calling and why God chooses students for new initiatives in world missions. Mary & I are trusting God to touch many new believers to respond to his call.
Here’s what Loren Cunningham says: “I am thrilled at the potential of the exciting 30 Days of Vision Challenge. Please forward this email to your friends and churches. It will launch many into new ministries and life changing mission vision.”
Third, I just finished teaching a five week course called Missional Church Emerging for Praise Bible Institute. You can view all five of them on Youtube. See the links below.
Here are some testimonies from those who listened in:
“That is a powerful and highly inspirational message applicable to ALL Christians. ‘Let's eat together’ is the ultimate missional call within our grasp right here and now. I also heard a bit of Family Ministries in there too. Loved all 3 messages rolled into one. Well done. That message is worthy of the next Congress on World Evangelization.... Get ready."
Bob Ruthazer (Director- Certified Family Life Educator/Coach)
“I want to say thank you. We joined YWAM in 1981. We joined Floyd’s Dilaram ministry, a community that helped addicts through rehab for the first 15 months of our time. That was the very best of my 27 years of YWAM experience. It encapsulated the heart of so much of what you are teaching. You said a lot (in my world now that’s about four teaching sessions of ten sermons!), but it cut to the core of what the mission I joined was about. You gently put the mountains and the kings of those mountains in their place, and you took it back to the heart, to character and the authenticity of our walk with God. You made friendship, brotherly love, meals the heart of the gospel. I’ll be really honest, it was healing ... at times I wept. So thank you.”
Peter Adams (former International Dean for UofN’s College of Humanities & International Studies)
“I think it is a very powerful message and should be shared with as many people as possible. I have certainly passed it on. The whole point of eating as part of divine fellowship is crucial to who we are as human beings. Thanks for your message. It was a real blessing.”
David Aikman - (Senior Fellow at The Trinity Forum, former Time Magazine bureau chief in Berlin, Jerusalem and Beijing, and US State Department) Love,
Missional Church Emerging
These are the five sessions of the Missional Church Emerging class I taught in February and the beginning of March. These sessions sum up over three decades of following God's lead into his mission. It follows Peter's admonition to "make every effort...to make your calling and election sure." (2 Pe. 1:1-10) I hope you will take the opportunity to listen.
God is inviting his Church, his bride, to cross over into a new chapter of history right now. This is an invitation to enter THAT Story. We are called out (ekklesia) and we are sent (apostolic/missional) to be History Makers. Our CALL is to cross the Threshold into what God has prepared for his bride.
We are his witnesses. Called to testify about what we know, that Jesus Christ is Lord. Our CALLING IS TO testify. To do so, we need to know our identity in Christ; we need to know His voice; and we need to know our purpose.
The Church exists because of God’s mission. The church does not have a mission; God’s mission has a church. Here are the
To make our stand, we need to make every effort, as the apostle Peter writes in his second letter, to add to our faith, moral goodness, knowledge, self-control, and perseverance.
This final session is about a table, a cross, and a crown. Before the crown, there must be a cross. To practice godliness, and brotherly kindness, and to learn of God’s kind of love, you must sit at the table.
All five sessions are available on our YWAMConverge Youtube Playlist.
